About the facade

THE FIRST PROJECT IN THE NORDIC REGION WITH A FACADE MADE FROM 100% RECYCLED ALUMINIUM

THE FIRST PROJECT IN THE NORDIC REGION WITH A FACADE MADE FROM 100% RECYCLED ALUMINIUM

SAPA is taking the lead towards a more sustainable future and has become the first aluminium building system company to manufacture door, window and facade profiles from 100% recycled aluminium - Hydro CIRCAL 100R. The new, recycled material is produced from 100% recycled post-consumer scrap. This means it is possible to specify profiles with a near-zero carbon footprint (0.5kg of CO2e/kg of aluminium on average) - a world-leading achievement.

The Hydro CIRCAL 100R is proof of our innovative spirit. We strive to challenge the industry while giving our customers the best conditions to be competitive. Together, we want to redefine the future of construction with minimised carbon emissions.

Scandinavia´s pioneer in sustainability

The office in Vetlanda has undergone an impressive transformation and is now the first in Scandinavia with this low carbon footprint. Moreover, it is built with the new TENTAL façade system, which will be launched in 2024. This innovative step forward is a direct result of our commitment to a more circular construction industry. By using Hydro CIRCAL in our standard range, we show that SAPA has a strong commitment to a circular economy and a more sustainable future. We are proud to be leaders in the industry and look forward to continuing to drive innovation for a more sustainable construction industry.

Our approach on circularity, and who we partner up with

In a world that increasingly values sustainability, vague claims of being "sustainable" or "recycled" are no longer sufficient. It's imperative that we accurately define these terms, share data openly, and encourage verification. Transparency is a key factor in accounting for the carbon dioxide emissions associated with our products. Hydro CIRCAL 100R, is a prime quality aluminium made with 100% recycled post-consumer scrap aluminium. Hydro CIRCAL has a carbon footprint among the lowest in the world: 0.5 kg CO2 per kilo of aluminium.

Vetlanda Headquarters – the renovation project teams up with Glasgruppen and Saint Gobain!

With a shared dedication to sustainable development, Saint-Gobain Glass and Hydro Building Systems, which includes SAPA, are committed to helping developers and specifiers create more sustainable, lower embodied carbon buildings. According to a life cycle assessment study of façades, it is estimated that the embodied carbon of the building façade could be reduced by up to half by combining façade systems made from Hydro CIRCAL glazed with ORAÉ® products. We’re extremely happy that this partnership is beyond words, and in fact has been concretized in form of an actual project – the SAPA Headquarters. We’re not only talking about how we should go about the future, but we are also actually doing it as well.

Less carbon footprint

The use of HYDRO CIRCAL 100R is decisive, as it only emits 0.5 Kg of CO2 per kg of aluminium, compared to a European average of 8,6 kg of CO2 per Kg of aluminium. This data is certified by independent bodies and is available to professionals on request through EPDs (Environment Product Declarations).

In summary, the TENTAL curtain wall is the perfect solution for current needs in terms of design and sustainability in the building industry. A product that fully backs up SAPA's commitment to the circular economy, allowing architects not only to imagine the word we all want, but also to build it.
