Behind the unique and exciting facade of SeSol’s new building, there is a massive work and close collaboration between several parties. Tobias Scholtzé from GlasLindberg tells us about the challenges, solutions and pride in having created a building that stands out in many ways.
When the request from the loyal customer YLAB came, Tobias Scholtzé and his team at GlasLindberg had no idea about the magnitude to which the project would be. “My contact Josef Abrahamsson called me and asked if we were interested in leaving a bid on three facades and an entrance part”, Tobias says. “At that time, we didn’t understand the magnitude of the project and what it would mean. “
One of the most fascinating aspects of the project was the unique design of SeSol’s facade. “The design is from the project’s architect, exciting and rare”, Tobias explains. “It was mainly the sizes of the glasses that were challenging. The base was 2000mm and the height was 3700mm, which meant some thinking, especially with the glasses that had the tip down. “
In an early stage the opportunity to cut off the facade at the joists to reduce the height of the glasses was discussed. “However, it was rejected by the architect and the customer, which was lucky news for us”, Tobias says with a smile.
The project was not without challenges. “Mainly around the glass meeting of the triangular glasses”, Tobias explains. “We had to cut the glasses slightly so that the tips themselves would not be too sharp”. Despite the challenges this turned out to be a fantastic project, and there are many things to be proud of. “We are proud of having produced a facade that is, in many ways, spectacular without being too complicated”, Tobias says. “Of course, there were moments when we were nervous, for example during the first glazing days, but ,in its entirety it went beyond expectations”.
Tobias also emphasizes the importance of a good collaboration. “We got great help from a very engaged and competent site management team led by Anton Edman from YLAB. Without their good cooperation, the project would not have developed into what we see today”, he concludes.
The project with SeSol’s facade has been both a challenging and very rewarding task for Tobias Scholtzé and his team at GlasLindberg. Their fine work and collaboration have resulted in an impressive and cool facade.
